Agricultural residues: from waste to a valuable resource for the bio-based products industry

The workshop took place within EIMA International, the most important Italian fair of agricultural mechanization. In this fair the valorisation of biomass is a topic treated with great interest for the central role of mechanization in the supply chain of these resources.

The purpose of the workshop was to present the first results of the activities carried out at national level regarding the estimates of the availability of resources in the territory, the selection of the best practices, the involvement of the various stakeholders.

The workshop - in addition to ITABIA and FEDERUNACOMA - was attended by interesting leading experts in the panorama of the national bioeconomy, including:

  • Sandro Cobror Director of Assodistil (National Association of Alcohol and Distillates Distillers), which represents over 50 distilleries (95% national production).

  • G. B. Zorzoli President of FREE (Renewable Sources and Energy Efficiency Coordination), which brings together the 27 major associations in the world of renewables.

  • Stefano Aiello Commissioner of ARSAC (Regional Agriculture Development Company in Calabria), which also supports projects on BBP.

  • Teresa Cecchi Montani Institute (National Pole for the Service Learning project) expert in bioplastics and green building.

  • Annica Patregnani from PESSPAGLIA, a company that produces bio-building materials using wheat straws.
