The main aspect of the workshop was the use of agricultural wastes from the orchards. The Galilee is the main fruit barn of Israel and the accumulation of apple and decicious trees is a waste on the once hand and an environmental pollution on the other. The uses of fuit wastes was discussed and some ideas were presented.
Farmers who own orchards were presented and asked many questions. The researchers of MIGAL and some from the Tel-Hai College nearby were encouraging people to find ways of using those fruit residues as substrates for useful products, especially the apples from the orchards as a source for growing grasshoppers.
