The bioeconomy as a response to the economic crisis determined by COVID-19

The workshop was organized by the Agency for the Promotion of European Research (APRE) in collaboration with the Spring Technology Cluster and through the BIOVOICES project.

During the lock down for Covid19, an online discussion was held to encourage the exchange of ideas on the bioeconomy.

In this context, the speakers identified some strengths and weaknesses that currently characterize the bioeconomy by trying to indicate the opportunities that this can offer businesses and society. The online workshop was an opportunity to discuss possible actions to support industrial innovation, new legislative and financial support tools, the definition of strategies to be implemented in the short / medium term through collaboration between the different actors. After the pandemic, can the bioeconomy represent a new reference model and a valid production alternative for businesses? How will the national bioeconomy strategy respond to new needs and what additional tools need to be put in place? How to help the lifestyle change in citizens, be it temporary or permanent?

During the round table, Sofia Mannelli of Itabia described the Enabling Project, bringing the activity of collecting and disseminating the good practices of the BBP industry as a highly effective element.

The event was followed on the Zoom platform by 295 people, and approximately 100 others followed the direct Facebook event. It was held in Italian.
