Plastic Free Venice Lagoon " Macro and Micro Impacts of Plastic wastes: Possible solution". Environmental Impacts of plastic wastes and possible solutions.

The Plastic Free - Lagoon Venice, in collaboration with the Italian partners of ENABLING Project (FEDERUNACOMA and ITALIA), I.T.T. G. MONTANI, VERITAS, HIREF, and JONIX, as well as the attending of several environmental associations and national institutions, are organized the Plastic Free Event placed in Venice with special section for Enabling Project.

The initiative took place on the occasion of the World environmental and Oceans Day, the 7-8 June 2019.

The theme for 2019 is focused on "Macro and micro impacts of plastic wastes and possible solutions”. In this context, the workshop of Enabling Project was to give a contribution by showing the first results with particular attention the innovative best practices and potential growing of European cluster among partners and stakeholders of the project, with the aim to increase the awareness of a more conscious "Enabling Community".

Following to the Workshop , the initiative was ended with a clean-up activity, which aims at raising public awareness on the impact of abandoned plastic waste in the Lagoon of Venice, taken place on 8th June 2019. A particular acknowledgment is going to Dr. Poletto of Unesco-Venice for having contributed to realize the event.

Federunacoma and Itabia have been working closely with their stakeholders MONTANI Institute, Unesco Venice and Plastic Free Association in order to organize the event. Further stakeholders have been invited like policymakers from Municipality of Venice, neighboring communities, and scientific community of Cà Foscari University, University of Padova, Legambiente Association, as well as stakeholders of Santa Barbara's plastic-free Association (USA), OCEAN SPACE, HIREF, JONIX, VERITAS, and other Entrepreneurs.

Another important aspect was to increase the awareness and participation of tourists and volunteer citizens to the event with concrete actions focused on the plastic wastes collection day after the workshop.

There was considerable interest from the participants and a great willingness to collaborate in the future on the part of the stakeholders involved. Thanks to this event, the 2nd edition has been organized during September 2019 and the next 3rd edition will be foreseen next June 2020. Newspaper articles relating to the event have been published for further dissemination.
