The workshop was directed on presenting new researchers that are being held in MIGAL, and new approaches to uses of Quinoa as a feed for animals and a source (the straw) for other bio-based products. The Quinoa crop was found to use less water, and it was attractive to the farmers. The workshop included mainly farmers and representatives from the local Ministry of Agriculture. Most of the participants in this workshop were our local stakeholders, farmers from Kibbutzim that have land for crops, and owners of dairy cows or having the opportunity to enter new fields of crops. The possibilities opened by using Quinoa as a crop that may be of high value on the one hand and reduce GHG on the other attracted many stakeholders.

It was an opportunity to discuss with stakeholders, owners of SMEs who are entering into issues of utilising organic wastes and biomass, as well as with the farmers, on new direction for implementing the ideas in the region.

Several farmers are ready to enter into pilot projects on their land, as well as some dairy farmers are interested in using Quinoa as feeding for their cattle. They emphasised that still additional experiments are needed to ensure health of cows.

As a result of the workshops held in Galilee there are already several farmers who are implementing in a pilot scale the research results and are in continuous contacts with MIGAL.
