Sicily is a region of southern Italy where the economic crisis and climate change require immediate answers. In this context, the agricultural sector plays a central role in activating new forms of economy capable of enhancing the resources of the territory in full respect of the environment and the well-being of people. On these assumptions, a workshop was held at a large agricultural company (specialized in the cultivation of prickly pear for food and BBI) in which numerous farmers, representatives of the research world and companies in the bioeconomy sector took part. ITABIA, represented by Vice President Matteo Monni, participated with the report: "ENABLING - A European Project for the Green Economy" arousing great interest from those present.

Established useful contacts with Sicilian companies and researchers who are active in the bioeconomy sector. We participated in the opening of a small biorefinery for hemp processing, created by the Bioinagro Company in the Municipality of Licata.

Contacts were established with the CREA PB (Council for Research in Agriculture and Economic Analysis - Policies and Bioeconomy) of Sicily. The CREA PB has requested the data collected within the Enabling Project.
